Blue Print People

Easington and Byker ! As part of sharing the process of flag making and the experience of printing the flags we made flags with a fabulous project at  The Barn at Easington .

They have developed excellent links with the surrounding communities and advertised for families to come and make flags out at at the barn so after one bad weather false start we had two lovely session with families and young teens from Easington and the surrounding County Durham area.

We where then invited to fly the flags at Easington Miners picnic in 2019 and then again this year 2021.  Which meant approx 1800 people got to see the prints

In addition to that a selection of the flags went on tour to two National Trust properties around the UK in 2019.

Byker and The Bostey

Over lockdown I made cyanotype packs for the Boste Youth Club, that meant we could carry on the project in a smaller way and engage families with the creative process! I made a video for them to follow and ran some workshops over messenger with the the young people.

After a year and a half gap, we arranged for an afternoon in Byker. Local residence and Bostey young people spend an afternoon making flags.

Together we decided the best place to fly them was Plaguey park that looks over the Ouseburn Valley in Newcastle .

When the Flags where installed we where able to use the 360 camera to document them in situ.
